When the Practice is closed, our main phone line 09 278 2578 diverts to Home Care Medical (HML).  A Registered Nurse can give advice or suggest being seen at an Accident & Medical Clinic. The HML service is unable to make appointments for you or take prescription requests, so if this is what you require, please register for access to our Health 365 patient portal, where you can book appointments and request scripts. Alternatively, our phones are switched back over each day at 8.30am. HML is a service that is available for medical advice, after hours, week nights, public holidays and all weekend on: 09 278 2578.

We are an independently owned family orientated general practice located in the heart of old Papatoetoe. We belong to the Procare PHO and RNZCGP Conerstone accredited practice. Our team of doctors and nurses are passionate about providing quality healthcare that is affordable and tailored to each individuals health needs.

We prefer to see patients by appointments but can see patients urgently if needed. Our team is complimented by physio, hand therapy and midwives.

We offer a full range of primary care consultations to patients of all ages. We pride ourselves on being able to assess your needs, advise the best service and help you navigate the confusing maze of sub specialties that is modern health care.

Initial assessment and referral to the most appropriate service, as required.

Driving, insurance and diving medicals.
ACC services, Minor surgery,  Punch biopsy, Ear syringe, Skin check, Liquid Nitrogen, IV Infusion and Phlebotomy services (blood taking).

Heart, diabetes, cervical, breast, bowel, prostate and STD checks.

Regular reviews of chronic conditions to optimise treatment and minimise the impact on your life.

Blood pressure, immunisations, travel vaccinations, dressings, pregnancy & STI testing, wart removal, cervical smears, health checks.

Age and family-appropriate check ups.

Repeat script request will be available after two working days depending on the doctor’s schedule. Please check our timetable.
Repeat prescription fee is $17, Last minute urgent prescription request is $19

Please book a double appointment if you have more than one problem to discuss with our doctor as this will help us to run the clinic efficiently and avoid unnecessary longer waiting times.
 
Consultations taking longer than the standard consultation time of 15 minutes will by liable for a surcharge. Any special procedures will also be liable for a surcharge. 
 
Every effort is made to keep the charges for standard consultations as low as possible. Therefore it has become necessary to charge account fee of $5 if payment is not made at the time of consultation.
 

ACC – Additional charges may apply for materials and more complex consultations.

Please note:
  • Payment is expected at the time of consultation.  Accounts unpaid at the end of the day will have an administrative fee of $5 added. We do not accept Credit Cards.
  • Did Not Attend Appointment (DNA) charges: If you fail to attend an appointment and have not advised the clinic 30 minutes prior to the appointment time, there will be a DNA charge added to your account.

Currently a Chief Clinical Information officer at HealthAlliance , as well as 5/10’s clinical practice at Papatoetoe Family Doctors. He has the NZ Army award for serve and TTCP program award for human factors research, involving deployments to East Timor, Bali and others. As such he gained experience in topical medicine, well health checks, military occupational and diving medicine as well as family medicine. He gained fellowship with the Royal NZ College GPs in 2004. He is married with has three children.

Diane is a fellow of the NZ College of Gp’s , she graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1991. She and her cardiologist husband emigrated to NZ in 1996. She worked for a number of years as a pediatric registrar in South Africa prior to coming to NZ and then spent time at Starship Hospital as a registrar . She has worked in general practice for the past 23 years She joined the Papatoetoe practice in 1997. She loves all aspects of general practice and has enjoyed watching her patients grow up and now start their own families, she continues to have a special interest in paediatrics and looking after the elderly. She is also very involved in women’s health and cardiovascular health assessment and prevention. Outside of work she has 3 boys who keep her very busy with all their activities.

Paul is a Kiwi Korean GP who grew up in Auckland and graduated from Otago Medical school. He is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of GPs and also has a Diploma in Child Health. He enjoys the variety and the challenges that General Practice offers and enjoys getting to know patients well. He is married to another GP and has a 2 year old son who keeps him busy on his days off.

Alora has just recently joined our growing and busy practice in April 2019. She has completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree back in 1989. She is NZ Nursing Council Registered and has 18 years of experience in general practice. She is a certified smear taker and independent immunisation vaccinator. She is also a busy mother who loves cheering her son at his sporting events.

Sharon Vandana is a registered nurse who qualified with a Diploma in General and Obstetric Nursing in Fiji in 2007. She moved to New Zealand in 2008 and has worked in general practice and urgent care settings since then. Sharon gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing from the University of Auckland in 2013. Sharon joined the Doctors Onehunga in 2011 and was appointed to the role of Nurse Manager. Her interest lies in women’s health and she has over 6 years’ experience in smear taking. She has special interest in women who have fears of getting their cervical smears done. Sharon is passionate about breaking this barrier and making the experience less stressful for women. In her spare time Sharon enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family and spending quality time with her kids.

Irene joined Papatoetoe Family Doctors in February 2018 and is an experienced Practice Nurse, graduating in 2007. Irene has done post graduate studies/ diploma in Advanced Nursing and recently finished training to be able to prescribe medications in the community. Irene is able to provide services including: Contraception, Sexual health check and education, Common skin Infections and simple pain relief, Dietary advice/weight management, Sore throat management and diabetes.
